It is considered one of the oldest premium cigarette brands in the world. The Sobranie brand story began in London in 1879, established by the Russian immigrant Redstone family on Old Bond Street. Sobranie's most famous product lines are the Black Russians and Cocktail series. The Cocktail series became a classic due to its multi-colored cigarettes (each stick having a different colored paper), typically packaged in an elegant black or white hard box. The Black Russians are known for their gold-colored filter tips and black cigarette paper. Over the years, the brand has gone through several ownership changes and is currently owned and manufactured by Japan Tobacco International (JTI).
