Long Life 1
Long Life is the most famous and iconic cigarette brand in Taiwan, produced by the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation (TTL) (formerly the Taiwan Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau). It is the leading brand in the Taiwanese tobacco market and carries deep local historical and cultural significance. Long Life cigarettes were born in 1958. At that time, it coincided with the 72nd birthday of President Chiang Kai-shek. The Monopoly Bureau specifically developed this new product and named it "Long Life" (Changshou) as a birthday tribute. During the era of the tobacco and alcohol monopoly system in Taiwan, Long Life cigarettes almost monopolized the market and became the primary choice for Taiwanese male smokers. The traditional motifs and the words "Long Life" on the packaging symbolize auspiciousness and good fortune. Following Taiwan's entry into the WTO in 2002 and the abolition of the monopoly system, the brand faced competition from international brands but successfully transitioned by diversifying its product line (such as introducing lights and menthol series) to maintain its market position.
